what is yoga?

yoga retreat is mostly interpreted as “union” or a method of discipline from the Sanskrit word “yuj” (to yoke or bind). A male practitioner is called a yogi, a female practitioner, a yogini. The contemporary western approach to yoga is not based on any particular belief or religion, however Yoga does has its roots in Hinduism and Brahmanism. Yoga was developed by seers or ascetics living primarily in the southern parts of India. The seers observed nature and lived as close as they could to the earth, studying the many aspects of nature, the animals and themselves. By observing and emulating the different postures and habits of the animal kingdom they were able to develop grace, strength and wisdom.Brahmanism dates back to containing sacred scriptures called “the Vedas”. These scriptures contained instructions and incantations. It was in the oldest text “Rg-Veda” from the scriptures that the word Yoga first appeared, this was nearly 5000 years ago. The fourth text called “Atharva-Veda” contains mainly spells for magical rites and health cures many of which use medicinal plants. This text provided the average person with the spells and incantations to use in their everyday life and this practice of “Veda” can still be seen in the streets of India today.

the secret of yoga

When considering the root of the word yoga, it is easier to grasp its original intention. Originating in India, Yoga is in actuality not just something, but some things. The ancient practices that are still utilized today are believed to offer great insight and spiritual enlightenment as to the very nature of existence, through a process of deep meditation. It has many ties to personal beliefs as well as popular world religions. The dates of such a practice have been traced as far back as 3000 BC, where archaeologists have found multiple seals of the Indus Valley Civilization depicting individuals and god-like beings in meditative postures. As early as 900 BC, ascetic practices were recorded in the Brahmanas, part of the Vedas. As time passed, evidence of practices in the Hindu religion became more prominent. This was especially true, as this concept of what is now considered “yoga” continued to grow and change as is evidenced in the middle Upanishads c. 400BC. Further “defined” by the Bhagavad Gita (c. 200BC), which translates to “The Song of the Lord” and which offers the first glimpse of a “codified” yoga, the book included many meanings to the modern term, yet focused on on three: Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Jnana retreat yoga.

how to choose a free online dating site?

These are the valuable questions because every site is built for different people and every person would find their ‘ideal’ home at a different free online dating. Also, you may know which sites offer dating services, but not know which ones allow you to sign up to their service for free. There are many online dating sites, but by reading on you can and will be able to find the ones which allow you to sign up for free to their online dating site. Many of the new sites offer free trials, which allow you access to some of the features. If you decide to, you can pay to get a premium or upgraded membership to that site. You can create your profile and post it to the site. You can even put up your photograph along with your profile. After this, most sites will work hard to find you a date or a match. The features of each dating site will allow you to connect with these people by messenger or email. But, it is always preferable that you go for an online dating site that is offering a free service. Free service is always better when using a new website, which you have not decided upon yet. Also, and unfortunately, some of these new dating sites popping up are frauds. They can take your money for membership and then just disappear. You are not left with any alternative at that point of time because you do not even know to whom the site belongs to or where to go for your money.

you want to know what is yoga retreat?

yoga retreat” is a Sanskrit word that means “to join.” Yoga, then, is union and the way to union. What do we join through yoga?First, we join our awareness to our own essential being: spirit that is consciousness. In yoga philosophy this is known as the atman or self. Next we join our finiteconsciousness to the Infinite Consciousness: God, the Supreme Self (Paramatman). In essence they are eternally one, and according to yogic philosophy all spirits originally dwelt in consciousness of that oneness. But in the descent into the material world for the purpose of evolving and extending its scope of consciousness, the individual spirit has lost its awareness of that eternal union, and therefore los the capacity to live in and manifest the union on a practical level.Through yoga the lost consciousness can be regained and actualized in the individual’s practical life sphere. So profound and so necessary is yoga to the evolving consciousness, there is no more important subject in the world.Regarding this, a yogi-adept of the twentieth century, Dr. I. K. Taimni, remarked in his book The Science of Yoga: “According to the yogic philosophy it is possible to rise completely above the illusions and miseries of life and to gain infinite knowledge, bliss, and power through enlightenment here and now while we are still living in the physical body. And if we do not attain this enlightenment while we are still alive we will have to come back again and again into this world until we have accomplished this appointed task. So it is not a question of choosing the path of yoga or rejecting it. It is a question of choosing it now or in some future life. It is a question of gaining enlightenment as soon as possible and avoiding the suffering in the future or postponing the effort and going through further suffering which is unnecessary and avoidable. This is the meaning of Yoga Sutra 2:16: ‘The misery which is not yet come can and is to be avoided.’ No vague promise of an uncertain postmortem happiness this, but a definite scientific assertion of a fact verified by the experience of innumerable yogis, saints, and sages who have trodden the path of yoga throughout the ages.”

free online dating- what is free online dating

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Friday 26 February 2010 5:17 am

free online dating sites offers you a chance to post a free profile of yourself. Often times these are very basic profiles. Typically items included in a free profile are gender, age, brief description of yourself, what kind of relationship you are looking for, and a brief description of the person you are looking for. Some sites let you select a couple more things such as your personality, horoscope, the personality type you are seeking, and the horoscope of the person you are seeking. This free online profile generally becomes the search criteria for others on the site so this limited information picks your dating pool. Another issue with the free profile is that you normally have to pick your answers from a drop down menu or multiple choice selections. Many times the choices are general and do let you showcase your uniqueness. These common answers limit what people learn about you and can often give off the wrong first impression. It is like when you first see someone at a bar and you form an impression based on the shirt they are wearing or the drink in their hand - neither one is really going to give you an appropriate first impression.Even if you go through the work of setting up a free profile and you search through the hundreds of people to find the one you think will work for you, you have limited ability to communicate with them. Typically sites will let you send a flirt or an interest but until one or both of you buy an upgraded membership, you won’t be able to email or chat. This can be frustrating but many people end up paying for the upgrade because they have invested so much time in the search. If you’re going to have to pay to actually meet someone, why not pay someone to do your searching for you too. Matchmakers will look for people for you based on a lot more criteria than a free profile gives you and they look at what makes you unique, not just general terms.

Yoga for Health: Are You Stressing Out? Take Yoga Class

Posted by admin | affiliate | Friday 26 February 2010 5:14 am

Stress is actually the number one killer of humans on the planet. Stress is a factor and cause of more physical and mental diseases than most of us can imagine. If you have any disease or ailment, stress will make it worse. If you are getting “stressed out,” it may bring on an ailment or disease.
Just look at what stress does to your blood pressure and heart. Cancer patients recover better when they are dealing with less stress. There are many reasons to worry, and none of us is without worry or stress. Too much stress can also cause an abrupt withdrawal from society and result in a possible depression.
Stress overload can cause job burn out, chronic fatigue, and nervous breakdowns. All of these conditions can result in long-term effects that can “sap” a person’s life energy, focus, and motivation.
Unfortunately, stress can also be caused by the ego, too much attachment to outcome, greed, jealousy, and hate. This is mentioned within the Yoga Sutras, by Patanjali, which has remained a timeless guide to human insight. Sometimes, we create our own stress and are our own worst enemies. So, what’s the solution? Stress management programs are one answer. Have you ever noticed how many stress management techniques look like Yoga? To be honest, if something looks and sounds like Yoga; it’s probably “Yoga in disguise.”
I do not want to take away any credit, but Yoga is a 5,000 year old health maintenance system. You could call Yoga the “mother” of all health maintenance systems. Many of today’s health maintenance systems are “off shoots” of Yoga.
Hatha Yoga teaches you to stretch and strengthen your tense muscles, breathe correctly, relax, meditate and much more. Regular Yoga practice will help you develop your focus and turn stress “on its head.” As a result of Yoga practice, you will easily be able to handle life’s daily stress.Whether the form of Yoga you practice is holding postures for a while, or flowing from one posture to the next, your body will be relieved of stress. Hatha Yoga sub-styles such as, Restorative Yoga and Iyengar Yoga, hold the Yoga Postures a bit longer than most.
